Skiing race
We will organize a skiing race, following the spirit of the founding fathers of the EURO-C conference series.
To ensure equal opportunities, the participant with the smallest difference in times between the two runs will be declared the winner of the giant slalom. The fastest skier will also be celebrated.
Equipment
If you do not have your personal skiing equipment with you, you may rent both skis and ski boots from a ski rental. For online pre-reservations with www.schimeier.at, directly located at valley station of Gschwandtkopf, you will get a discount of 10 %. Please note that also the ticket for the ski lift has to be bought by yourself.
Place and Time
The valley station of Gschwandtkopf is directly behind the conference venue. The skiing race will take place at the skiing slope called “Brunnental” and will start at 14:00. We kindly ask all participants to gather at the starting area – mountain station of “Schlepplift Brunnental” – at 13:45, at the latest, in order to obtain the starting numbers and to ensure that the skiing race can start on time.
Awards Ceremony
There will be a joint Awards Ceremony with the participants of the curling at 16:30 at the curling area. This allows participants of the skiing race to continue skiing until the ski lifts closes.
Outdoor alpine-style curling
In parallel, we plan to organize an outdoor alpine-style curling event for non-skiers.
Experience and equipment
No prior experience is required. Winter clothing including boots and gloves is requested.
Place and Time
The event’s feasibility depends on sufficiently cold temperatures before and during the conference. A final decision on whether or not it will take place can only be made a few days in advance. We will keep you updated before and also during the conference.
The curling lanes are just behind the congress center.
After a brief instruction from the trainers, two groups of about five people each will compete against each other.
The curling will start at 14:30. Please be there in time.
Awards Ceremony
There will be a joint Awards Ceremony with the participants of the skiing race at 16:30 at the curling area.
